MIKAYLA RANSON PHOTOGRAPHY

HEY THERE!

My name is Mikayla Ranson and I am a twenty-six year old photographer based in Boston MA. I specialize in event/music and portrait photography (and eating a whole Chipotle burrito in under two minutes, but let's focus on the subject at hand here).

I joined a photography club with my friends in elementary school out of my desire to find a hobby that interested me, and that's when it clicked. I would spend hours in my backyard and at the local playground taking pictures of anything I could find from angles high and low. That's when I knew I would be doing it for years to come. In the coming years, I educated myself on the deets of photography from basic to advanced, and now I photograph concerts and gigs, as well as portrait photography, and being able to follow my passion has made me the happiest ever.

Photography tells a thousand words. Or it can tell just a hundred; or maybe even just one. That's what's great about it, really--art is what you make of it. You choose its definition. The ambiguity of photography, and art in general, forces you to ask questions and decide for yourself what the answers to those questions are. Music photography has always intrigued me because of the strong emotion it beholds. The amount of passion an artist gives on stage deserves to be recognized in its purest form. It's like art in art itself, essentially.

And so, through my work, I aim to bring well-deserved recognition to the art of music. In general, I also aim to tell a meaningful story with every picture and video that I take.
